BQ Online, July 2013

No 10 Downing Street will be hosting the first Pitch 10 event this Thursday to showcase some of the UK’s best digital businesses with North Shields-based Kykloud selected to take part.

One of only ten businesses to be invited to present at the event, the mobile building surveying and asset management software firm will be demonstrating its software and sharing its business success with some of the UK’s leading FTSE100 chief executives, investors and other stakeholders related to and benefitting from the technology sector.

David Cameron has stated his commitment to making the UK the best place in the world to start and grow a company, and this event aims to highlight and raise awareness of the strength of the UK’s digital sector.

For Ed Bartlett, chief executive and co-founder of Kykloud, the Downing Street event closely follows a recent visit to Buckingham Palace to meet the Queen and other members of the Royal Household as one of the UK’s emerging digital success stories.

Kykloud provides mobile surveying and condition assessment software to the construction, surveying and property management professions and is used globally to manage large scale infrastructure projects. Designed and operated out of its North Shields base it has grown in four years from concept to market leader.

Since launching in 2010, the business has established a customer portfolio which includes eight of the UK’s top ten surveying and engineering firms, Government departments, leading plcs and facilities management businesses. The firm has also expanded its presence internationally with the establishment of Kykloud ANZ earlier this year.

The Downing Street event will see Kykloud brands such as Huddle, the enterprise content collaboration platform that helps organisations across the globe to collaborate intelligently and whose customers include 80% of Fortune 500 companies and 80% of UK central government departments as well as companies such as Diageo, Kia Motors and PwC.

Bartlett said: “It is a real honour to be asked to be part of such a high profile event to demonstrate the impact that the emerging digital sector is having on the British economy and to highlight to some of the country’s most successful business leaders what growth is underway. We are joining some very well known, successful brands which have been going for quite some time – in many ways we are the new kids on the block in comparison but we are certainly well-regarded and have gained huge credibility in our industry.”

Michelle Cooper investment manager with Newcastle-based venture capital firm Northstar Ventures which backs Kykloud, said: “I am delighted that one of the companies I have been working so closely with has been asked to present at this prestigious event.  Northstar Ventures has backed Kykloud from the beginning and we saw the potential of the company from day one. Their mobile cloud technology is truly disruptive and has the potential to completely transform the building surveying world.”
