A Northstar Ventures-backed technology company has won the Innovation Prize at this year’s Northern Tech Awards.
CANDDi (Campaign and Digital Intelligence), headquartered on Newcastle’s Westgate Road and with a base in Manchester, helps companies turn website visitors into customers and the prize recognises the advances in online sales and marketing intelligence that CANDDi’s software provides.
CANDDi chief executive Tim Langley said: “Websites are actually not as good as you would think at converting visitors into customers.
“It’s very hard to know who has been to your website and why they didn’t buy something or make an enquiry. We help companies to understand their prospects better, and respond appropriately with tailored offers and messages, or a more individual approach. CANDDi not only tells you how many people, but actually who visited your website.”
Alex Buchan, investment manager at Northstar, added: “CANDDi really impressed us from the start with its new approach to web analytics and sales-led generation, and we are pleased to say that we have backed CANDDi since 2011 through both the Finance for Business North East Proof of Concept and Accelerator Funds.”
Northstar first backed CANDDi as a Proof of Concept investment in 2011 and provided a further £250,000 mixed debt and equity investment from its Finance for Business North East Accelerator Fund
